Kanye West talked about his performance at Glastonbury last year where he messed-up. He compared it with his experience in his younger years when he was sacked from his job and had no money.
The 39-year-old rapper remembered his headline performance for the music festival in 2015 where he got the music wrong and forgot his lyrics.
Talking about the humbling experience with Radio 1’s Annie Mac, the Life of Pablo hit maker said that it put him in a depressed state.
“I don’t usually get nervous, I prepare, I get fully prepared,” he said. “When that music messed up in the beginning, it tapped into my nerves and when you’re nervous or vulnerable, something special and something different can happen.”
Saying that he was a “bit of a perfectionist,” the rapper said the experience made him recall when he was in high school and was fired from his job. This was the time when he played his music for R Kelly and was promised to be signed in, Mirror UK said in a report.
Kanye West said that those were the days when he could not afford a haircut and could not even take his girlfriend to the movies.
“I’m still in my momma’s bedroom, working on beats, and I was that close to being signed by R Kelly,” the Famous singer recalled.
In the interview, Kanye West also said he wanted to be a US president so people can be open-minded on what is going on around them. He first aired his desire to run for president last year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
“We are numb, we’re numb to 500 kids getting killed in Chicago ” Kim Kardashian’s husa year,band said. “We’re numb to the fact that it was seven police shootings in the beginning of July.”
Kanye West added people are numb to places “we don’t live” and that people thinks it’s okay “for other people’s lives to not be okay.”
