Kanye West Announces US Presidential Bid
Kanye West has just announced he is running for president of the United States. The announcement was made on stage as he accepted his Video Vanguard award for MTV VMAs Awards 2015.
West rambled in his speech – from bashing MTV for having Taylor Swift present his award to admitting that he “rolled up a little something” to smoke before coming up on stage. Towards the end he went on talking about the kids and their future. “We are millenials, bro. This is a new mentality. We are not going to control our kids with brands. We are not going to teach low self-esteem and hate to our kids. We are going to teach our kids… to believe in themselves,” West said as an introduction to a bigger news he was about to say.
Finally, ending his speech, the rapper said: “And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
The event’s host, Miley Cyrus, coyly called him out after his speech, saying, “You got to bring politics to this kind of show.” Cyrus then beamed at the camera and said, “Trump, you had my vote.” She however then added, “But now, Kanye West for president!”
And Kanye West it is for president, as Twitter erupted in support of the rapper. Fans are saying they cannot wait for 2020 and have even created the hashtag #KanyeForPresident2015.
Khloe and Kourtney have tweeted their supports too. Kim Kardashian may actually be U.S.’s first lady if the odds work on West’s favor.
