On Saturday, the Canadian pop superstar Justin Bieber celebrated his father, Jeremy Bieber’s engagement party to his longtime girlfriend at a private Toronto art event. The private event featured Batman, the Batmobile and an actual Bengal tiger.
According to PEOPLE, the event attendees included costumed superheroes like Iron Man and Wonder Woman, the last undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and a performance of the Canadian opera singer – Meghan Lindsay.
TMZ reported the 22-year-old Bieber spent time at the party petting the Bengal tiger. The “Love Yourself” hitmaker even took on his Instagram account and posted a photo of himself with the tiger, in the Batmobile and the costumed superheroes, as well as with his father. And the Canadian singer also performed at the event.
However, as stated by Hollywood Life, after the Canadian singer posted the picture, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) claimed tigers like the one Bieber posed for a photo are typically taken away from their mothers shortly after birth and these tigers are severely abused. The singer is lucky to be alive, as Justin could get hurt during the imprudent photo shoot.
Lisa Lange, PETA Senior Vice President, said in a statement, “Justin Bieber is lucky not to have had his throat torn out by this stressed captive tiger. Tigers used for photo ops are torn away from their mothers shortly after birth, and the Bowmanville Zoo, in particular, was caught beating one tiger more than 17 times, even after the Bengal tiger was lying on his back in a position of submission and fear.”
Lange also said that this is the reason why PETA urges people to stay far away in taking photos with a cruel and dangerous big cat. PETA warns Bieber not to do it again.
