Zendaya, who stars in Disney Channel show “K.C. Undercover,” won the award for Favorite Female TV Star on the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards. Instead of celebrating it, however, the young star immediately got embroiled in a Twitter war against Klausner, a notable comedian and actress.
According to Daily Mail, the battle started after Klausner called Zendaya a “thinspo model for your impressionable tweens.” She also added, “You don’t have to have an eating disorder to attend the Kids’ Choice Awards….but it helps!” referencing Zendaya’s thin frame.
Zendaya was quick to respond, seemingly threatening the older actress. “Do you find this funny? I will write another paragraph to educate you as well #youreallywannabenext?” Zendaya tweeted. It can be remembered that she and Giuliana Rancic once got into a lengthy Twitter battle, too. Instead of apologizing however, Klausner wrote she cannot wait to be “educated.”
Zendaya chose to ignore the defiant reply and wrote instead, “Now….everyone go look in the mirror at their beautiful body, and love that s–t #thickgirlswinning #skinnygirlswinning #weallwinning.”
This did not stop Klausner from continuing her tirade against Zendaya. She referenced Melissa McCarthy into the conversation and wrote, “I will never stop criticizing celebs who perpetuate dangerous beauty standards for a generation of girls who grow up thinking they’re fat.” She also added, “And you know those public fat shamers who fake ‘concern’ for Melissa McCarthy’s health? Consider me your fire with fire.”
Klausner also defended herself from critics, mostly Zendaya’s fans. She said she personally does not care about what Zendaya wants to do with her body. Instead, she is more concerned over the impressionable young girls who will see Zendaya’s thin body. “I’m concerned with the generation of girls who aspire to look like Zendaya. I do not worry about Zendaya’s health or care whether she eats,” she said.
Klausner later added that she is fine if people hate her tweets. She explained, “I’m not for everyone.” She even said, “You can take it or leave it! It’s legal and more than ok not to like me!”
Zendaya’s fans were really affected by Klausner’s tweets against their idol. One person commented, “You’re so sad and pathetic. Ur getting a sick pleasure out of inciting young people. Is this for followers?” as reported by E! News.
