Jim Carrey Slams Media for Making Ex-girlfriend’s Suicide Note Public
Though actor and comedian Jim Carrey is still grief-stricken by the death of former girlfriend Cathriona White, he finally broke his silence on the matter to slam the media for publicizing the suicide note left by White.Advertisement
Carrey is upset that the media chose to serve his private life like “free dinner vouchers” to the public by divulging the contents of the note. He was also surprised the people close to him betrayed him on the issue.
“When I came to Hollywood to make it as a comedian, I soon learned that the details of my private life would be handed out to the media like free dinner vouchers,” the Aceshowbiz quoted Jim Carrey as saying. “I never dreamed that the people I love most in the world would also be on the menu. What a shame.”
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office released a report on White’s death, claiming it was a suicide and that the police discovered a suicide note with her addressed to Carrey. Sources said Carrey and White had just broken up a week before the incident last year.
The duo met in 2012 and have been in an on and off relationship since then. The couple reconciled last spring after a long separation. TMZ reported that the couple had not fully broken up at the time of the suicide, but were just taking a break.
In the note addressed to Jim Carrey, White wrote, “I’ve spent 3 days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don’t have the will this time. I’m sorry you felt I wasn’t there for you. I tried to give you my best part.”
White’s death was due to overdose of prescription medicine. She also mentioned her family in the letter, which was signed “Dewdrop,” and said that she is fine with any plans they have for her funeral.
