Jesse Lehrich is getting some very unwanted attention in the wake of the second 2016 presidential debate. Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy spokesman took the spotlight after telling Donald Trump to “go f**k yourself” after the GOP nominee’s comments regarding Captain Humayun Khan.
During the debate, Trump suggested that Khan would not have died in Iraq if he was president back in 2004. This prompted Lehrich to call out the businessman on Twitter, cursing the GOP nominee for his statements.
He was live-tweeting during the debate but abruptly stopped after apologizing for the inappropriate remarks he made online. In the days leading up to the debates however, Lehrich pulled no punches in showing his disgust at Donald Trump.
So who is this man who decided to take on the man who could one day lead the country? Is his disdain for the Donald warranted or is it influence by his political views? You decide.
The 27-year-old Jesse Lehrich has been working for the Clinton campaign for over a year and previously worked as an unpaid volunteer. He is a native of the Boston area and received his political science degree from Colorado College.
The official Hillary Clinton campaign site, Hillary For America pretty much tells the story of Lehrich’s career. In 2008, he had his first taste of the campaign trail when he interned for President Barrack Obama’s campaign.
He worked the anti-Trump American Bridge PAC as press secretary in May 2014 later becoming their deputy communications director. Lehrich also served as an assistant press secretary for Organizing for Action in 2013 and 2014.
He started to work for Hillary Clinton in June 2015 moving to New York and helping establish her downtown Brooklyn headquarters. According to the Atlantic, Lehrich also modeled Clinton T-shirts for the campaign website just one month after volunteering.
He now serves as Clinton’s foreign policy spokesman helping his boss take the spotlight from the TV savvy Donald Trump. However due to his inappropriate tweet, it seems he unintentionally put the spotlight on himself.
But judging from his recent tweets, is it really surprising that Jesse Lehrich could say such things about the GOP nominee?
