Show-runner Jennie Snyder Urman said that Xiomara’s pregnancy does not mean that she will give birth to a child in the coming Jane the Virgin season 3.
“She doesn’t want to have another baby with Rogelio,” she said in an interview with TVLine. “She certainly doesn’t want to have a baby with Esteban.”
The show-runner said in addition that fans would have to wait for the “Jane the Virgin” season 3 to find out.
Vanity Fair speculates that Jane the Virgin season 3 will focus more on the issue of abortion, which is not being tackled thoroughly in television shows.
“This wouldn’t be the first time a youth-oriented show handled the topic (Degrassi certainly did on multiple occasions through its various iterations), but for a subject so often ignored, it’s nice to hear that a show as thoughtful and subtle as Jane the Virgin could be giving it some serious consideration,” Vanity Fair’s Laura Bradley said.
CW’s Jane the Virgin is an adaptation of a Venezuelan program which follows the story of Jane, played by Golden Globe-winner Gina Rodriguez, who got pregnant after an having a mix-up of artificial insemination, Salon said.
After deciding to keep the baby, she also formed a love triangle between current beau Michael (Brett Dier) and with Rafael (Justin Baldoni), who will father Jane’s child.
The show, which premiered in 2014, already tackled topics on parenting, motherhood, responsibilities, and family drama.
“Jane the Virgin” season 3 release date is still not announced by speculations arise that it might be premiered on October just like the past two seasons.
