After the cliffhanger shown in “Jane the Virgin” season 2 finale, where character Michael received a fatal gun shot by Susanna,”Jane the Virgin” season 3 is eyeing a whole new plot that will focus beyond virginity, wedding and pregnancy.
According to TVLine, Xiomara will get pregnant on “Jane the Virgin” season 3, but it does not mean she will give birth to the baby.
“She doesn’t want to have another baby with Rogelio,” Show-runner Jennie Snyder Urman said. “She certainly doesn’t want to have a baby with Esteban.”
Vanity Fair said that Jane the Virgin season 3’s take on abortion will bring a new light on youth-oriented television shows that does not tackle sensitive issues like this.
“This wouldn’t be the first time a youth-oriented show handled the topic (Degrassi certainly did on multiple occasions through its various iterations), but for a subject so often ignored, it’s nice to hear that a show as thoughtful and subtle as Jane the Virgin could be giving it some serious consideration,” writer Laura Bradley said.
Moreover, according to Jane the Virgin season 3 spoilers released by Bustle, post-partum depression is also in line for the hit telenovela-like series.
With supporting character Petra, played by Yael Groblas, who just gave birth to her twins and was having a depression post her pregnancy, the next series may drill more on her issue, Los Angeles Times said.
In one episode in season 2, Petra even admitted to her new found friends who are also new mothers, that she has considered giving away her babies so they can have a better future.
