ISIS news: The Islamic State issued a call-to-arms for “lone wolves” to attack the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
ISIS News: The Propaganda Magazine
According to the Daily Telegraph, ISIS has given a call to terrorists to attack Bondi Beach, the Opera House, and the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The threat was declared a “vile rant” published in the first edition of its new propaganda magazine Rumiyah. The four-page article was published on Monday.
In the article, Islamic State encourages supporters to kill people in public acts of terror, specifically those in Australia.
“Kill them on the streets of Brunswick, Broadmeadows, Bankstown, and Bondi. Kill them at the MCG, the SCG, the Opera House, and even in their backyards,” the article said.
“Stab them, shoot them, poison them, and run them down with your vehicles.”
It was reported that the terrorist faction was planning to single out Australia’s top sites. This is because terrorist Ezzit Raad, who was imprisoned in 2005 for plotting to blow up the MCG, was killed in Syria.
ISIS News: The Government’s Response
A counter-terrorism expert stated that the Islamic State hoped to ignite a lone wolf terror attack that would be reminiscent of the Sydney siege. The new propaganda insisted followers to murder Australians in some of the country’s most iconic sites, according to News Corp.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull assured Australians that the nation has the finest security, intelligence, and police forces in the world. Turnbull also announced that security forces are being provided with appropriate laws and proper resources to keep Australians safe.
