The latest rumors suggest that the iPhone 7 might skip the headphone jack and use a Lightning port instead. In our previous stories about the upcoming iPhone, we told you how Apple is planning to bring drastic changes to its design. A thinner phone is one of the goals Apple is trying to meet with a design overhaul. A report published by 9to5Mac says that Macotakara, a Japanese blog, claims, “Apple plans to remove the 3.5mm headphone port from the upcoming iPhone 7, helping to achieve a “more than 1mm” reduction in thickness compared to the iPhone 6s.”
Another report published on Forbes says that for the next iPhone, Apple may adopt the Lightning connector for ear-pods and a digital-to-analog converter for the connector. This is how you will be able to enjoy music without the headphone jack. But Apple will not be able to bring this concept into life alone. The company will need help from third-party wired headphone makers to bring this technology to its next smartphone.
Even though the news is coming from reliable sources like Macotakara and 9to5Mac, there is no guarantee that the next iPhone will not have a headphone jack. So let’s wait till Apple gives us the news.
