– Backup all personal data of your handset properly because they will be deleted once the update is done.

– Make sure USB debugging is enabled on your device.

– Get your device fully charged.

– It is important to note the Galaxy Tab 4 cannot be rooted to Android Lollipop 5.1.1. In case you require root access, stay with 5.0 Android.

– Install USB drivers for Galaxy Tab 4 on your desktop.

Once you are done with the requirements, move towards the installation process.

Step 1: The first step is to download the Odin software and extract the zip file. Download Android Lollipop 5.1.1 here. The file name is T330NUUEU1BOG1_T330NUXAR1BOG1_T330NUUEU1BOG1_HOME.tar.md5.

Step 2: Switch your Tab 4 off from the PC and boot it to download mode. Long press Volume Down + Power + Home when the screen is off for at least for 8 seconds. Once you go to the screen of boot mode, press Volume Up to proceed to download mode.

Step 3: Your tab is already connected to the PC using USB cable. You should see an “Added” in Odin Log box at the bottom left. At the same time, the background of the first box under ID:COM will also change its color to Blue.

Step 4: Click the AP button on Odin and select .tar.md5. in order to load firmware to Odin. In Odin, check to ensure that Re-partition checkbox is deselected.

Step 5: Once the firmware is loaded in Odin, select Start to begin flashing the firmware. Once the installation is complete, the Galaxy Tab 4 will automatically boot and a message will appear. Once it is installed, just disconnect the tablet from the PC.

You are now ready to use Android 5.1.1 on Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 using Odin. You can verify the installation by navigating to Settings > About Device. Please remember that changing to a new version should be done at your own risk.
