Rumors from yesterday turned out to be true after all. Warner Bros.’s upcoming game is, in fact, Injustice 2. Moments ago, the announcement trailer was uploaded on YouTube.
Gorilla Grodd, Red Lantern, new Injustice 2 characters
According to Kotaku, Injustice 2 has been confirmed to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Furthermore, the Injustice 2 release date will be sometime around 2017. Early rumors suggested the game will also have a PC version. Unfortunately, it seems like there won’t be a Windows release as of now.
The trailer teases various improvements and upgrades for the game as a whole. Although it’s a cinematic trailer, it still reveals new characters and better textures for our superheroes.
Ed Boon, Creative Director of NetherRealm Studios, said, “In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games, We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”
Most of the fans are eager to know where the story would take off; last we know. Superman was locked up in a Red Sun cell while Batman and the others are building the society we once knew. However, according to the PlayStation Blog, there are more interesting experiences that lie ahead for us.
One thing that caught our eye was NetherRealm’s introduction to a new option that allows “players to build their own version of Superman, their Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe.” It’s a common notion that fighting games are dull and repetitive even if it has a good storyline. Mortal Kombat is a fine example of that.
But Injustice 2 has been engineered to be dynamic so as to immerse players into the game, then change their strategies and fight differently as they progress.
For now, sit back and enjoy the trailer below. Injustice 2 will reveal a gameplay trailer soon, hopefully this year.
