“House of Lies” is finally back with new episodes as season 5 kicked off on Sunday. The Showtime drama is as dramatic as ever.
Episode 1 of the new season opened with Marty Kaan, portrayed by Don Cheadle, having some difficulty co-parenting with Kristen Bell’s character, Jeannie van der Hooven, whom he has a complicated relationship with.
The network behind the American drama TV series revealed in a synopsis, as shared by Celeb Dirty Laundry, that “season 5 begins with Marty back on top and navigating the hazards of co-parenting with Jeannie, along with each other’s new relationships.” It added, “Meanwhile, Doug and Clyde maneuver for position; and a familiar face from the past approaches Marty with an intriguing offer.”
It can be recalled that during the last episode prior to “House of Lies” season 5, Jeannie gave birth while Marty was trying his best to put Kaan & Associates on top of the industry.
Being a program that talks about management consultants willing to do everything just to get a business deal done, the first episode of the new season featured the lead character talking to himself about how he sees himself as a consultant, but eventually ended his thoughts with a smirk as he realized that he has “a ton of sh-t.”
In the meantime, TV Guide’s “House of Lies” season 5 spoilers suggested that its fans must expect a funnier season, which is composed of 10 episodes. As disclosed by creator and executive producer Matthew Carnahan, the whole season is going to be “less pathos, more ensemble comedy.”
Having said that, the site noted that the upcoming episodes will uncover new roles and relationships as the characters try to explore their identity. One example of this new discovery during “House of Lies” season 5 will be between Marty and Jeannie as they nurture their newly-born daughter Phoebe amid their rocky romance, TV Guide’s spoilers claimed.
