“Homeland” season 6 spoilers revealed that the Showtime series will explore a storyline that involves the US presidential elections.

According to Entertainment Weekly, “Homeland” showrunner Alex Gansa hinted that with the elections happening in November, it can be a timely topic to discuss in the political thriller series.

“The whole season takes place between Election Day in November and the inauguration of a new president in January,” Gansa said about the upcoming “Homeland” season 6, adding, “during this strange and interregnum where a very fragile transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect.”

As previous spoilers have already disclosed, the highly-anticipated episodes of the new season will take place in New York City. It can be noted that season 5 was filmed in Berlin.

While “Homeland” Season 6 is expected to premiere by September, just in time for the US presidential elections, there is a possibility that they would try to predict as to who is the potential winner. However, Gansa pointed out in the “Homeland” season 6 spoilers that he shared that “will stop short of predicting any winners,” especially that the production team is looking at presenting the scenario after the polls rather than during its conduct.

““There is this strange period in America where there are 72 days when it’s not exactly clear who’s in charge, and there is a new president that needs to be educated on what it means to be president,” he relayed to Entertainment Weekly. “That is a very complex transfer of power filled with all kinds of anxiety and different competing interests.”

“How do I get the ear of the new president? How does the new president elect deal with the president that’s going out? — and it’s a dangerous time in our democracy,” he added about what to expect in “Homeland” season 6.

Meanwhile, Showtime programming chief Gary Levine dished in January that if Quinn (Rupert Friend) would live, “it will not be — in any way, shape or form — the way he has lived to date,” TV Line reported.
