On Thursday, a Donald Trump campaign spokesperson claimed that Hillary Clinton suffers from a language disorder called dysphasia.
According to spokesperson Katrina Pierson, the former First Lady acquired the disorder due to brain damage that impairs one’s ability to communicate. As reported by The Hill, Pierson suggested that Clinton’s condition was a result of brain trauma that gradually takes a person’s ability to speak or understand language.
The Trump campaign had been going down the road to evoke questions about the former Secretary of State’s health conditions, and dysphasia is the latest addition.
“What’s new are the other reports of the observations of Hillary Clinton’s behavior and mannerisms, specifically with what you just showed in those previous clips, as well as her dysphasia, the fact that she’s fallen, she has had a concussion,” Pierson said.
“It’s something that needs to be addressed. She’s taken a lot of time off the campaign trail.”
The most intriguing part of this speculation is the fact that Pierson was not the only person who provided such speculation about the Democratic nominee suffering from dysphasia. A doctor appearing on FOX News last week also alleged that the presidential candidate might have “aphasia,” which is similar to dysphasia.
GOP nominee Donald Trump had been claiming from the beginning that the former First Lady lacked the physical capability to be president. He also claimed she had repeatedly taken leaves on weekends to catch up on her sleep.
However, the Trump campaign had been going into conspiracy theories posted on ultra-right wing blogs and sites that claim that the Democratic nominee’s health is deteriorating slowly. These ultra-right wing sympathizers also believe that the media is trying to cover up the issue, according to the Washington Post.
Evidence proving such claims are entirely absent. Hillary Clinton’s physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, has mentioned regularly that the former Secretary of State is fit to serve.
Pierson, who made the dysphasia claims, is known for misstating facts. Earlier, she had claimed that President Obama started the Afghanistan War and that he was responsible for the death of Capt. Humayun Khan, son of Democratic National Convention speaker Khizr Khan, in Iraq in 2004.
