Russia is developing a nuclear torpedo under the project codenamed “Ocean Multipurpose System: Status-6.” The nuclear submarine weapons system is being designed to supersede and destroy NATO and U.S.’s missile defense systems and to bring “assured unacceptable damage to the enemy,” rendering regions futile for both military and economic life.
The drawings of the nuclear torpedo were mistakenly shown by Russian-controlled channels, the NTV and Channel One, NDTV reported. The aired clip showed a military official skimming through classified documents that detailed the making of the supposedly secret nuclear weapon. The said torpedo is being designed by Rubin, a Saint Petersburg-based construction company specializing in building nuclear submarine according to NDTV.
The nuclear torpedo submarine will pierce through missile shield system while bringing ultimate damage to the enemy’s coastal region, a separate report from RT stated. A footnote on the drawings spotted by the website described a detonation that would result in “extensive zones of radioactive contamination” leaving the enemy’s soil in poor condition, unfit for “military, economic and business” for a long time. The torpedo is designed to be “self-propelled underwater vehicle” with a range to as much as 10 thousand kilometers and a potential operating depth of up to 1,000 meters.
Spokesman for Russian president Vladimir Putin admitted Wednesday that the channels had mistakenly revealed supposedly classified information. “It’s true some secret data got into the shot, therefore it was subsequently deleted. In future we will undoubtedly take preventive measures so this does not happen again,” Dmitry Peskov said as quoted by NDTV.
The drawings were presented to Mr. Putin during his meeting with the Armed Forces. Morning News USA reported Wednesday that during this meeting, the ironhand president has trumpeted WW3 against NATO and the U.S.
