Harry Potter’s Wizarding World Theme Park To Open In Hollywood In 2016
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will make its way to Hollywood in the spring of 2016, Universal Studios Hollywood announced on Tuesday.
The Harry Potter theme park, based on the universally renowned and bestselling series of books written by J.K. Rowling and the subsequent movie adaptations, will be the third Wizarding World attraction following the ones in Orlando and Japan.
According to USA Today, Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. consumer products, said in a statement, “The momentum behind J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world is as strong as ever and we are incredibly excited to bring Hogwarts to Hollywood.”
Unlike the theme park in Orlando, the Hollywood attraction will feature the signature flight simulation attraction, “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey,” in hyper-realistic 3D, as reported by Variety. It will also feature Universal Hollywood’s first outdoor roller coaster ride called “Flight of the Hippogriff.”
Among the other highlights will be the restaurant Three Broomsticks and the pub Hog’s Head, along with food carts serving magic neep and butterbeer.
According to TIME, the first Wizarding World of Harry Potter park was opened in Orlando in 2010. The success of the first amusement park was followed by the opening of another one in Osaka, Japan, in 2014.
Universal Studio Orlando Resort’s reports indicate that the revenue for the theme park escalated by a whopping 17 percent to $2.6 billion for the year.
