A tragic car crash during a vacation at Disney World has taken the lives of a couple, while their children Haley and Sophia Moyers survived with serious injuries.

Haley is 13 years old and her sister Sophia is only 8. Their parents, Greg and Sarah Moyers, had been saving money for months to take their little girls to Florida.

Greg , 40, of Leadwood, owned Moyers Muffler and Brakes in Park Hills. His wife Sarah worked as a manager at a McDonald’s.

According to Orlando Sentinel, the muffler company owned by Greg was a central part of the small community where they had been living for more than 20 years. At the same place the Moyers held get-togethers and cookouts.

When the family left for their Disney World trip, Greg wrote a post on his shop’s Facebook page informing customers that the shop would be closed for a week due to vacation.

The Moyers visited Walt Disney World and Universal Studios and were on their way to the beach on Sunday. During that time, the devastating crash took place when a Ford Focus drifted into their lane near DeLand. This caused their Nissan to get off the road and crash into a tree at about 12:30 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman. In the crash, both parents died.

Haley and Sophia were taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Women in Orlando. They  survived the crash but have severe injuries.

On Monday evening, an official from the hospital said Haley was in critical condition and Sophia was stable.

“All they ever wanted to do was give their kids a good life and show them what it was like to go on vacation,” said Landon Hahn, a family friend who is dating Greg Moyers’ niece.

A GoFundMe page has been constructed for the Moyer couple. According to that page, the Ford Focus was being driven by Charles King, 43, of New London, North Carolina. King was not injured.

“The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending,” said Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman, Sergeant Kim Montes.
