Lately, Marvel has been low profile with details regarding Guardians of the Galaxy 2. While their reasons are unknown, DCEU is stepping up its game by releasing new details and stills for Justice League and Wonder woman before San Diego Comic-Con 2016. So, what can we expect from MCU?
The studio has finally looked into fans concern and has released a new concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in EW’s recent issue. The image reveals Drax, Groot, Yondu, Star-Lord, Rocket, Nebula, and Gamora. Furthermore, it looks like the movie has added a new character called Mantis to the team. She can be spotted in the image below.
Mantis is an acquaintance among the Guardians. The fictional character will be played by actress Pom Klementieff. Producer Jonathan Schwartz also shared some details on Mantis. “She has never really experienced social interaction, Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to learn your social intricacies from,” he said.
Schwartz also revealed that Groot will be portrayed differently than the character we knew in the debut movie released in 2014. The “younger Groot” would be more uncontrollable, possibly hasty in his action compared to the calm character we are familiar of. “The question is, is he the same Groot, just smaller? Or is he a different Groot that’s sprung up from the seed of the first Groot?” he said.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie is scheduled to hit theaters in May next year. Fans expect to hear more news, if possible a short teaser or trailer, during the cast’s appearance at San Diego Comic-con.
