Guardians of the Galaxy 2, the sequel to the 2014 smash hit, was among the big hitters at the San Diego Comic Convention. It was revealed that a couple of stars will be appearing on the film – Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone.
Russel And Stallone Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Roles
Russell will be portraying the role of Star Lord’s father — Ego — in Guardians of the Galaxy, while Stallone’s role is a bit sketchy for now. There were previous rumors tying the Rocky star as a Ravager under Yondu’s (Michael Rooker) command but that remains unconfirmed.
Stallone was seen briefly at the Hall H sizzle reel, but it was perhaps director James Gunn reveal that gave fans a bit of a clue on what to expect. Though it wasn’t extensive, Sly’s role will not be limited to a cameo.

“It’s a very, very key, important role. It’s not a huge role. He’s a great and key supporting actor,” said Gunn via Cinema Blend.
That revelation was as broad as it gets on Stallone’s role but better than relying on the grapevine. Looking at the way the movie goes, his potential role could be anything. This early however, the small contributions of Russell and Stallone should be something to ponder.
Able Supporting Cast
The addition of Russell and Stallone does prove one thing, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a promising sequel to look forward to. Screen Rant notes that the addition of the two iconic Hollywood stars raises the bar a bit. However, it still depends on the plot and the way the movie rolls.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 rumors will ramp up in the coming months. The sequel is set for release on May 5, 2017. There will be likely reveals and teasers coming from the movie’s star and crew in the coming months, similar to the success of what “Suicide Squad” accomplished.
