What's This?

The purpose behind the launch of Sidewalk Labs was a big mystery until this piece of information was disclosed.

Sidewalk Labs, Google’s new startup, recently announced that it has acquired and merged two companies behind LinkNYC, in collaboration with a group of investors.

LinkNYC initiative is aimed at offering free, public WiFi across New York City. The merger of the two companies Control Group and Titan has resulted in the formation of Intersection, which is going to be behind the extension of the LinkNYC free, public WiFi technology to different cities across the world.

The CEO of Sidewalk Labs Dan Doctoroff stated, “The vision really is to make cities connected places where you can walk down any street and have access to free ultra high speed Wi-Fi. The possibilities from there are just endless.”
