Google has finally released Android 7.0 Nougat, and devices are lining up for the update. As with other Android updates, the more important question is, when can other users access it?

Google Android 7.0 Nougat Release Update

As with other Android updates, the Android Nougat, also known as the Android 7.0 update, is now available, but only for Nexus devices for now. Other devices will have to wait for a few weeks or months depending on their manufacturers and carriers.

Users will most likely receive a notification on their devices saying the update is now available. If not, they can always check their phone settings. According to Wired, the Android Nougat update offers new emoji, notifications, and multitasking tricks. It also comes with a new skin, but the “heaviness” will depend on the manufacturer, carrier, and location of the device.

For Nexus users with handsets like Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, or Nexus 6, they have access to the software as early as August 22. For some without the update yet, it could take weeks depending on the location and carrier.

Despite Google’s increased pressure on releasing updates on time, there are reports saying that manufacturers and carriers won’t even pinpoint an exact period on when they will roll out. Users will have to stay tuned.

Other Options

For those who cannot wait, there are a few options available, according to Lifehacker. They can enroll in the Android beta program, flash a Nougat OTA update, or flash a Nougat factory image.  However, those who will flash their devices will need to take extra precaution as this can lead to a bricked phone and void of warranty.
