Seven-year-old Matilda Burnett loves the Ghostbusters franchise so much, she dressed herself in a costume that exudes not just style but attitude before watching the movie.
Max Burnett, Matilda’s father, tweeted a picture of her daughter in the costume. The picture received immense praise from users – including the director of the movie, Paul Feig.
“Okay, this is why we made this movie,” Feig tweeted. “She is awesome and I love that she made her own proton pack! She’s a warrior.”
Dressing up in the costume was solely Matilda’s idea, Burnett said, as reported by the Huffington Post. The girl took help from her mother, Emily, to make the proton pack and gun from yarn and a plastic water bottle.
“About an hour before we were to leave to the movie theater, she disappeared into her room,” Burnett said. “Thirty minutes later, she had turned an old zookeeper costume she made into a “Ghostbusters” outfit. She had drawn and cut out the patches and attached them with tape.”

Matilda loved the movie – especially that it featured a group of women. “She was very excited that it was all women,” Burnett said. “She regularly tells me that there should be more ‘girl bosses’ in the world. I agree.”
Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the female quartet. A summary of the movie on iMDb reads, “Following a ghost invasion of Manhattan, paranormal enthusiasts Erin Gilbert and Abby Yates, nuclear engineer Jillian Holtzmann, and subway worker Patty Tolan band together to stop the otherworldly threat.”
