Global Warming Needs Your Attention! February Smashes Global Temperature Record
Global Warming is no longer a far-fetched concept that cannot be verified by facts as more and more evidences are now being added to support that’s already a global phenomenon that needs an immediate attention.Advertisement
Just recently, NASA has released data showing that the average global surface temperature for the month of February 2016 is 1.35C higher than the average temperature for the same month in the period between 1951 and 1980. NASA has started tracking the average global surface temperature since 1880.
The new data from NASA added to the growing number of evidences to back that Global Warming is not just a concept that’s impossible to prove. Some weather experts and commentators have so far said the NASA’s recently released data speaks so much of the current condition, which should not be left ignored.
During the UN climate summit held in Paris last December 2016, world leaders have agreed that 2C is the maximum danger limit for global warming, according to a report from the Guardian. While the max danger limit has been set to 2C, efforts should be geared toward limiting the actual level to 1.5C.
But Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change policy director Bob Ward told the Guardian that current data suggests that it’s possible that the world may even surpass the 2C mark, especially basing on the past months’ figures.
“We have used up all of our room for maneuver. If we delay any longer strong cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, it looks like global mean surface temperature is likely to exceed the level beyond which the impacts of climate change are likely to be very dangerous,” Ward was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
Experts also expressed concern that the current condition might worsen the El Niño that’s been plaguing some parts of the world for several months now. In fact, a previous report shows that El Niño does not only affect the agricultural sector, but even the health condition in some parts of the globe.
