No doubt the initial trailer of the Ghostbusters reboot was a major disappointment to fans. Its official trailer uploaded by Sony Pictures received more than 800,000 dislikes on YouTube. Although hardcore fans hoped the movie would be better than the trailer, Sony’s second official trailer, released earlier this week, proved them wrong.
Sony Pictures has been working on promoting the movie; the company recently partnered with Void (Hyper Reality) to create the world’s first Hyper Reality experience using Ghostbusters for the public in Times Square.
YouTube has been a bearer of bad news for a lot of companies lately. Two weeks ago, ActiVision published the initial trailer of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. However, the promo backfired, leading to more than 2,000,000 dislikes on YouTube. But it hasn’t been bad news for all companies, as EA’s Battlefield 1 was massively appreciated, receiving more than 1,000,000 likes.
According to The Washington Post, viewers seem to hate the Ghostbusters trailer because the movie consists of an all-lady crew. Fans are already considering it to be a movie that would destroy the memories of the classic film. Although the initial trailer was barraged by hate comments like, “Women are just incapable of being funny. What a terrible idea,” the trailers are being hated at by all demographics.
We’ll have to wait and find out the movie’s true potential when it hits theaters. Watch the recent trailer below.
