On Saturday night, George Clooney and wife Amal Clooney, hosted the star-studded and very expensive fundraising dinner for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at their Los Angeles home. The party, which was bashed for being “obscenely pricey,” pushed through and was quite a success too.
As claimed by E Online, Clooney’s fundraising dinner for Clinton wa attended by the likes of the American comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres along with wife Portia De Rossi, actress and political activist Jane Fonda, editor-in-chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour and Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory” sitcom.
The actor of the comedy heist film “Ocean’s Eleven” raised an estimated $15 million at two Hillary Clinton fundraiser this weekend. Clooney acknowledged what critics said about the event being pricey.
According to Deadline, during the interview of Clooney with NBC’s Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd, the actor stated, “The campaign of Sanders, when they talk about it, is absolutely right.” He added, “It’s ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics. I agree completely.”
As reported by CNN, the presidential hopeful of the United States 2016 election Bernie Sanders said that the amount of money Clooney raised for Hillary Clinton is obscene. The junior United States senator from Vermont also claimed the actor is not supporting the right candidate in the 2016 presidential race.
Clooney never hid his admiration and support for Clinton, as many other celebrities. The party was just a way for them to show support.
