George Bush Falls, Breaks Neck Bone
Former President George H.W. Bush broke a bone in his neck when he fell at his home in Kennebunkport on Wednesday, according to an official statement made by his spokesman Jim McGrath. The 41st president was in stable condition but will have to wear a neck brace.
The minor accident happened at his summer home in Maine. He broke a vertebra in his neck but it was not life-threatening, McGrath told CNN. He was immediately taken to the hospital in nearby Portland where he is very stable, McGrath said.
McGrath dismissed rumors that the former president of the United States was disoriented due to the fall. They are not expecting a long stay at the hospital. He would, however, be treated with a neck brace.
Rep Tim Whelan offered prayers for the former president, speaking highly of him as the Nation’s 41st president and US Navy WWII fighter pilot. “Get well soon,” Whelan tweeted.
Some supporters have started sending the former president their wishes through Twitter. Everyone is wishing him a speedy recovery and including him in their prayers.
Mr Bush has just turned 91 in June. Several years ago, he made the public aware of his fight against a form of Parkinson’s disease. He was hospitalized in 2014 due to shortness of breathing. He was also hospitalized in 2012 due to bronchitis.
Mr Bush and his former first lady had been very busy last week. The couple was spotted at several events in Maine, meeting with watching Jeb Bush’s top donors. The 2016 presidential hopeful meanwhile has yet to give his statement as of press time.
