With one week to go before the premiere of Game of Thrones season 6, we have found more details about upcoming episodes. This includes titles of the first 3 episodes and another returning character.
According to the Independent, “The Red Woman” will be the first episode to kick-off season 6. This could only refer to Melisandre, the priestess of R’hllor. According to interviews with actress Carice van Houten, the season will see a new side of Melisandre. Unlike previous seasons where she is often portrayed as immune to anything that can kill her, we will see a more vulnerable side to her character.
Many fans are speculating about Melisandre resurrecting the murdered Jon Snow in this season’s first episode. HBO has released a list of returning characters and newcomers, but Kit Harington is not in it, although this might have been done to prevent spoiling the plot.
One of the returning characters will be another servant of R’hllor, Thoros of Myr. Watchers on the Wall revealed that actor Paul Kaye will be reprising his role in Game of Thrones season 6 as the drunken priest. With Thoros’ return, it is plausible that other members of the Brotherhood Without Banners will be making an appearance such as the archer Anguy and their leader Beric Dondarrion.
HBO has released the schedule of the first 3 episodes along with their titles. Episode 2, titled “Home,” will be aired on May 1. With a title as broad as “Home,” it is difficult to speculate what will happen in this episode without seeing the first. Episode 3, titled “Oathbreaker,” will air on May 8; our best guess is that it might contain scenes of Jaime Lannister due to his often stated habit of breaking sacred oaths as a knight.
It will definitely be a week of anticipation as we return to the intrigues and wars of Westeros in Game of Thrones season 6.
