What's This?

Maisie Williams, the actress who plays Arya Stark in “Game of Thrones” season 6, revealed spoilers about her character’s journey after she went blind for violating the Faceless Men’s code. Furthermore, fans speculate that Melisandre may have forged Stannis Baratheon’s sword into something that it isn’t.

While “Game of Thrones” season 6 is fast approaching, fans have been clueless as to how HBO will incorporate the story without a book reference, no thanks to George R.R. Martin. Despite the absence of clues on what to expect, Maisie Williams hinted as to what the audience can expect out of the Stark’s youngest girl.

As reported by Digital Spy, Williams stated, “Every season with Arya adds a different layer, I fell. With season five and going into season six, it’s kind of like they’re stripping those away. Although she turns a lot darker, a lot of it is actually underneath, and they’re stripping away the emotion now. It was so interesting reading season five and thinking ‘this is not the girl I’ve auditioned for, at all.’”

She added, “Going into season six, she gets broken down totally. We see her at the lowest point we’ve ever seen her. This time it’s nothing to do with a family member being killed, it’s something purely about herself.”

She went on and said, “…We definitely see a new crack in her. There’s a moment where you question whether she’s going to get back up or keep fighting.”

Judging by Williams’ statements, Arya’s journey for the upcoming season would be more intrapersonal. Therefore, now that she thinks all her family members are dead, she would delve deeper into who she has become and focus on herself instead of the Starks.

In other news, Watchers on the Wall reports that Liam Cunningham, the actor who plays Davos Seaworth, also revealed spoilers on what “Game of Thrones” season 6 episode one would look like. He said, “The first episode to kick off with [Melisandre] – without saying anything again – is astonishing. There’s absolutely amazing stuff coming up, just so left of field.

“Just watching your and my favorite characters being put in these situations that are just so unpredictable and just so unexpected – it’s one of the trademarks of the show.”

A fan responded to this notion about Melisandre’s huge part in “Game of Thrones” season 6. According to a fan post in Reddit, Stannis’s sword, which was drawn out from the burning seven in Dragonstone, could be something forged by Melisandre herself to make it appear as though it’s the lightbringer.

Furthermore, another fan used a “Song of Ice and Fire” reference towards the true identity of the sword and said that master Aemon Targaryen himself claimed that the sword was glamoured. Given that, it was speculated that Stannis is not Azor Ahai. However, the mystery behind Melisandre trying to make Stannis appear as Azor Ahai, even though he may not be the one, gave rise to speculation that the upcoming season’s first episode will explain Melisandre’s intentions.

Catch “Game of Thrones” season 6 on HBO this April 24. Melisandre’s intentions may be given a clearer purview and the audience may see less of Arya Stark.
