‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 will center on Arya Stark, not Jon Snow? Showrunners and actors have been mostly mum about what the audience can expect this coming April but recently released posters of the Women of Westeros and of Essos have hinted major spoilers. Warning!
Last season, Arya Stark was blinded by the Faceless God after she killed Ser Meryn Trant. Being blind is not the life that she was not supposed to have as a Faceless God assassin trainee. However, in the recently released “Game of Thrones” season 6 posters, it can be seen that Arya’s eyes are not white anymore. Does this mean she is not blind anymore?
Will she regain her sight in the upcoming season? Will the storyline be centered around Arya Stark and not Jon Snow?
Furthermore, the posters also showed Cersei Lannister looking more more elegant than she was last seen in “Game of Thrones” season 5, particularly after she dreadfully endured the “Walk of Atonement.”
As reported by Vanity Fair, Cersei looked usually stunning as opposed to her still set for trial presided by the Sparrows. She was seen wearing an elegant gown that went well with her short, blonde cropped hair. Does this mean that she would be able to absolve herself from the Sparrow’s judgment?
In fact, the latest Game of Thrones season 6 trailer showed Cersei being confronted by three sparrows, one of which was her nephew, Lancel Lannister. Will the Queen Mother refuse to be heard in trial?
In other news, Entertainment Weekly also showcased several photos of the girls of Westeros, Daenerys included. The pictures showed the queen of dragons wearing the same dress she wore when she was captured by the Dothraki while Sansa Stark looked surprisingly dressed up like her mother. What could these imply?
Sansa was last seen escaping Winterfell with Theon Greyjoy as they jumped onto the snow. From the photo, Sansa looked like she was someone of status, that she may have assumed the title “Queen of the North.” Did her awful luck finally change?
It could be, if Sophie Turner’s words can be trusted. Turner, the actress who plays Sansa revealed, “This is the season I’m most excited for. Sansa’s coming into her own and standing up for herself.”
During an interview, HBO chief, Michael Lombardo, explained why there were only women featured in the posters. He then said, “It’s the women that are the hope that we’re watching as the chess pieces move this season, and it’s very exciting.”
Judging from last season and from the previously released trailer showing the House of Black and White’s Hall of Faces, Arya may be the one who’ll take the lead role in season six. Furthermore, since the recently released trailer of “Game of Thrones” season six also showed several uproars in Winterfell, this could also be, as was confirmed by Turner, Sansa’s big season as well.
Lombardo then added, “Jon Snow’s missing, sure, but so are Tyrion and Jaime Lannister—so what?” So what indeed. Women rule this season, so what?
Catch “Game of Thrones” season 6 air on HBO this coming April 24, 2016.
