What's This?

“Game of Thrones” fans were caught by surprise when Jon Snow was resurrected in last week’s episode. Apprently, the cast was as well! Actor Kit Harington apologized for lying about his character’s fate and telling everyone he was leaving.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Kit Harington revealed that ‘Game of Thrones‘ producers already told him that he will be revived as early as 2014. David Benioff and Dan Weiss asked him to convince the entire cast that he was leaving after season 5.

He revealed that Sophie Turner completely fell for his ruse. He revealed that the actress playing Sansa Stark even wrote him a farewell letter, which he kept to this day.

He did stick around even after his apparent “death” at the final episode of the season. Claiming that his presence is to merely play the part of his corpse, Harington surprised everyone when his character was revived by Melisandre.

Despite the elaborate hoax set up by the producers to avoid leaking the true fate of Jon Snow, it seems it was all in vain. Fans of the series were not just hoping for his resurrection but some were expecting it.

With his character gaining more importance by the second many believed his sudden death was definitely out of place. Add the fact that it was earlier revealed that Melisandre’s religion has the power to resurrect the dead as demonstrated by Thoros of Myr.

In the end, however, Kit Harington must face the consequences of his actions. The Telegraph reported that he apologized to fans of the show for convincing them that their beloved bastard is dead.

Whether the ruse worked or not it was a worthy effort to keep the hype of “Game of Thrones” in the 9 months between seasons 5 and 6. With the new season revealing more about the history of Westeros, the whole charade of Jon Snow and his death will gently fade in the background.
