“Game of Thrones” fans has no doubt fell in love with Daenerys Targaryen this season. Being a champion for equality, dismantling ancient rules and traditions with her awesome display of power, it’s no wonder why she is so likable. But is she really the saving grace that will stop the madness currently engulfing the Seven Kingdoms?
According to Tech Insider, she may be beautiful and charismatic but being a character created by the infamous George R.R. Martin, there might be a twist to the happily ever after fans are expecting.
With her increasingly violent show of force, many fans believe that like Aegon the Conqueror, she will make the Westeros acknowledge her as Queen whether they want to or not.
Daenerys Targaryen, first of all, is a vengeful person, this was shown at the end of “Game of Thrones” season one when she burned the witch responsible for reducing Khal Drogo into a catatonic state. Will she not meet out the same punishment to the people deemed responsible for the slaughter of her family?
Next, there are her dragons, and although they recognize her as their mother, she is not capable of controlling them the same way Aegon the Conqueror controlled Balerion the Dread.
Drogon is less that 2/3 the size of Balerion, yet could nonetheless wreak havoc in the Seven Kingdoms considering it is more populous than Essos.
Then there are the Dothraki, a band of tribal raiders who seem to relish murder and rape. What will she do with them once she crosses the Narrow Sea and conquers Westeros? Will she send them back? Will she order them to adapt the Westerosi culture? I don’t think so considering that it is in their nature to be bloodthirsty.
Finally, there is the fact that she is a Targaryen, born of incest between brother and sister. Her own father was known as the Mad King and although Daenerys and her brothers Rhaegar and Viserys were lucky, who knows what the future holds for the Mother of Dragons. Aerys was considered a good king until later when the voices in his head told him to “burn them all” (was it you, Bran?).
Should she decide to be the villain and take the Mad King’s place as Nerdist reports, the only hope of peace in ‘Game of Thrones’ is for the Starks to be in charge. Specifically, Jon Snow, as he is described to very similar to Ned Stark, he is an honorable man and is willing to make the hard decisions even at the risk of his life.
Daenerys Targaryen turning out to be the villain will be the mother of all plot twists in ‘Game of Thrones’. With the show’s story as unpredictable as it is this theory could become reality.
