“Game of Thrones” Season 6 finale is set to tie up loose ends and pave the way for season 7. While most of the scenes depicted in the trailer have already happened, there is one that has gone unnoticed.

If you have not watched closely, then the chances of not seeing hints of what will happen in ‘Winds of Winter’ and “Game of Thrones” season 7 are high. Don’t worry, we got you covered.

With the War of Five Kings entering a new phase, the events in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 finale could prove pivotal in the course of the war.

The Killing Scene

According to Blastingnews, a scene from the “Game of Thrones” Season 6 finale trailer reveals what will happen not just in “Game of Thrones” Season 6 episode 10 but season 7 as well. The scene shows a group of children, believed to be Qyburn’s Little Birds killing someone.

It is safe to say that “Winds of Winter” will prominently feature the King’s Landing plot especially those involving Cersei Lannister’s trial.

What The “Game of Thrones” Books Tell Us

In the books, the killing in King’s Landing was perpetrated by Varys who killed both Grand Maester Pycelle and Kevan Lannister. Kevan is supposedly summoned by Pycelle to the Tower of the Hand only to find him dead.

Kevan is then hit by a crossbow bolt as Varys explains that he did a fine job in preserving the realm. His success in uniting the Lannisters and Tyrells, however, proved to be his downfall and he is finished off by Varys’ Little Birds.

There are only two ways that the scene could be explained based on the books. It could be that Qyburn is the one who ordered the killing as per Queen Cersei’s direction. Or Varys has indeed returned to King’s Landing in order to do the very same things mentioned in the books.

While both theories are plausible, the latter could mean that Daenerys Targaryen is getting ready to invade Westeros. With Varys severely crippling the factions that could oppose her, the invasion could possibly end faster and result in less bloodshed.

If the killing scene in episode 10 is indeed the work of Varys, it would mean that season 7 will feature the second Targaryen Conquest. Watch the “Game of Thrones” season finale “Winds of Winter” only on HBO.
