‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: Margaery Tyrell’s Real Scheme
“Game of Thrones” Season 6 Episode 6 featured an interesting plot-twist, instead of the anticipated bloodbath between the Tyrells and the Faith; we saw the Crown and the High Sparrow join forces. Is there more to this?Advertisement
Before the events unfolded we saw Margaery Tyrell speak with King Tommen, was this all part of her plan to alter the balance of power in King’s Landing?
According to Pop Sugar, that seems to be the case as the immediate aftermath of the Crown’s alliance with the Faith Militant resulted in Ser Jaime Lannister being stripped of his position. Tommen stripped his uncle(father) of his rank as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard and ordered him to return to Casterly Rock leaving Cersei to fend for herself.
Ever since she was introduced in “Game of Thrones,” Margaery Tyrell already showed her prowess in scheming and manipulating others. Especially when she was able to control Joffrey’s sadistic impulses something his own mother was unable to do.
With a talent for political backstabbing that she obviously got from her grandmother Lady Olenna, she prevented the Tyrells from being seen as the enemy of the common people. She dismantled whatever plans Cersei Lannister has in store for her family while simultaneously tricked the High Sparrow that she has repented.
One interesting thought about this is that her family doesn’t have a clue about her agenda as well. This is probably due to her seeing Loras already near breaking point and considered it a liability should he reveal her plans to the Sparrows.
What she will achieve in all this is currently unknown although we can assume it will involve power and prestige. She is an ambitious character after all revealed after she told Littlefinger that she doesn’t want to be a queen, she wants to be THE queen.
Margaery Tyrell has been sitting on the sidelines for the longest of times letting the majority of House Tyrell’s actions be decided by Lady Olenna. This time, however, it seems that she will take the initiative and be a major player in the “Game of Thrones,”
