“Game of Thrones” Season 6 episode 9 is no doubt going to be epic with more than 60 minutes of battle. The episode aptly named “Battle of the Bastards” will pit House Bolton against House Stark with the northern leadership at stake where both armies are led by the bastard sons of the previous lords.

According to Buzzfeed, while no doubt the majority of the hype is centered on the upcoming “Battle of the Bastards,” the trailer shows one very important detail, Ser Davos standing in front of a pile of burnt wood. While many people got burned in season 5, both literally and figuratively, this particular spot is where Shereen Baratheon was burned to death.

There is no doubt that some Deus Ex Machina will be involved in episode 9 since there is no chance that Jon Snow can win against the Boltons with his meager forces. His discovery will definitely happen after the battle as he explores the site where Stannis previously camped.

What indications could there be to show that the site was a witness to Shereen Baratheon’s death? It could possibly be a gift given by Davos himself, a wooden Stag the symbol of House Baratheon, lying in the snow.

The look on his face shows it, he knew something was wrong back in “Game of Thrones” season 5 when Melisandre returned back to Castle Black unescorted. Why would she abandon Stannis when she was the one who convinced him to go north?

Why is she reluctant to talk about the Battle of Winterfell and the fate of the princess? He will finally know the truth about what really happened and will no doubt confront the Red Woman about it.

Since both of them serve Jon Snow now, this will definitely cause tension in Castle Black. Whatever trust Davos has on Melisandre will vanish and all he will have for her is contempt.

Whether this will distract him from the real battle up ahead, is still too far ahead to guess. Watch “Game of Thrones” episode 9 this Sunday exclusively on HBO.
