‘Game Of Thrones’ Episode 7 Trailer: House Glover Helps Starks Fight The Boltons?
“Game of Thrones” has released the promotional video for the upcoming seventh episode titled “The Broken Man?” From our analysis, this might imply that House Glover is joining the Stark cause.Advertisement
In the episode 7 trailer released by HBO, a man can be seen with a banner behind him showing a silver mailed fist in a red field, which is the sigil of House Glover. Earlier in the season, Jon Snow pointed out that the Glovers are among the houses that are yet to declare for the Boltons.’
Aside from the events in Riverrun, the short clip also shows Sansa Stark speaking with a man presumed to be Galbart Glover, Master of Deepwood Motte.
After leaving Castle Black the Glovers seems to be the first priority for the Starks as being in close proximity and far enough from Winterfell that it will prevent them from being detected by the Boltons. After they successfully expelled the Iron-born from Deepwood Motte, it is possible that they still have a sizable army.
So what are the chances that House Glover are willing to support the scattered remnants of House Stark against the Boltons who have both the Karstarks and the Umbers? Aside from the House Stark and House Manderly, these three are the most powerful houses in the north.
Typically under such circumstances, most men would not bet on their lives on something trivial like a family name. But according to Sansa Stark, northerners are different; they remember the Stark name and are willing to stand by them against their adversaries.
The Glovers are staunch Stark loyalists, despite their status as a Masterly House (Master of Deepwood Motte, not Lord of Deepwood Motte) and not a full noble house, Robb Stark saw Galbart Glover fit to lead the vanguard of his army which was protested by Greatjon Umber in ‘Game of Thrones‘ season 1.
During Robert’s Rebellion, Ethan Glover was squire to Ned’s Stark’s brother Brandon and was with Ned in the raid on the Tower of Joy where he sadly lost his life. They are also direct vassals of the Stark despite not being a full noble house, which means that minor houses around their territory are in turn their vassals.
It is undeniable that the Glovers owe much to the Starks enough to gain their support. Unless they have a change of heart after the Red Wedding and the Greyjoy invasion and decide that it is much more honorable to choose the winning side than to fight for a lost cause, Glovers may be the Starks’ saving grace.
This will be the first time Sansa Stark’s claims that the northerners are different will be put to the test. Watch “Game of Thrones” episode 7 to find out if House Glover will fight under the Stark banner.
