“Game of Thrones” season finale is happening and the emotional roller coaster experienced in the “Battle of the Bastards” will probably continue in episode 10.Advertisement
Titled Winds of Winter, as an homage to Martin’s sixth book, the trailer of Game Of Thrones Episode 10 hints the coming of the Long Night.
The finale will prominently feature Cersei Lannister’s trial and the aftermath of the Battle of Winterfell while simultaneously ushering in the events of season 7. With the trailer out, we dug around for clues on what will happen in the finale.
First off we see Cersei Lannister, Margaery Tyrell, and Tommen Baratheon preparing for the upcoming trial. We also see Loras Tyrell, although it is unclear if he is being brought in as a witness or in a trial himself.
With trial by combat being outlawed by the crown, there are only two ways Cersei can get away with Robert Baratheon’s murder. First is by convincing the Faith that she is innocent which is highly unlikely or cause the trial to be interrupted indefinitely.
Next, we next see Jon Snow telling Sansa Stark that they need to trust each other as they have so many enemies now. Despite the death of Ramsay Bolton, House Stark is still in a precarious position.
At the Twins, Walder Frey echoes the last words Robb Stark heard in the Red Wedding from “Game of Thrones” season 3. Although the feast could just be a celebration for the recapture of Riverrun, “The Freys, and the Lannisters send their regards.” seemed to too ominous to be ignored.
Back in the North, the Stark camp deals with the aftermath of the Battle for Winterfell. Littlefinger demands his reward from Sansa while Davos confronts Melisandre over the death of Shireen.
Will Sansa Stark give what Littlefinegr want? Will the rift between Davos and Melisandre weaken the Stark camp? The finale will take care loose ends in preparation for “Game of Thrones” season 7.
Finally, we hear Tyrion speaking to Daenerys Targaryen asking her if she is afraid. A veteran of the politics of Westeros, he warns him that the great games are terrifying.
This could be a hint that after 6 long seasons, House Targaryen will finally sail across the Narrow Sea. The invasion from 300 years ago will once again be played out by the last Targaryen and 3 dragons.
The “Game of Thrones” season 6 finale will be directed once again by Miguel Sapochnik. Catch episode 10 “Winds of Winter” this Sunday exclusively on HBO.
