Game Of Thrones Editor Killed By Lion In South African Park
Morning News USA previously reported an American tourist killed by a lion while driving in South Africa’s Lion Park. The tourist has now been identified as Katherine “Kate” Chappell, and her remain are now with her loving family in Rye, New York.
Chappell, 29, had a very promising career as a visual effects editor. Her filmography includes being part of a team that was awarded an Emmy for episodes of the HBO TV series “Games of Thrones.” She had just finished working on Chris Hemsworth’s “In the Heart of the Sea.” She also worked in the films like “Godzilla,” “Divergent,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Noah.”
Arriving in South Africa
Chappell was in South Africa as a volunteer to a shelter for rhinoceros and elephants. She arrived a week early to have extra time for sightseeing, her mother Mary Chappell told The Journal News. Chappell had hopes of making a film that would tackle the perils of animals victimized by poaching.
Her mother described her as a talented and adventurous woman. She wanted to live her life to the fullest.
“Everyone who met her loved her. She lived a life of adventure – she loved traveling, she was full of life,” her mother said.
“Katie was a brilliant, kind, adventurous and high-spirited woman. Her energy and passion could not be contained by mere continents or oceans,” Chappell’s sister wrote in a Facebook page dedicated to her.
