The year 2016 has definitely been the year for female superheroes to establish their grounds in the fictional cinematic universe. Although Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow has been on the big screen since 2010, the character hasn’t had significance in MCU like Iron Man and Captain America.
Gal Gadot Leads Female Superhero Reign For DCEU?
Surprisingly, the appearance of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” stole the limelight from the male superheroes. Moreover, it looks like the character has managed to appeal to the critics as well the audience.
A recent report from Variety has confirmed that Gal Gadot has been nominated for Critics Choice Awards. Moreover, its for her role as female superhero in DCEU.
The actress received the nomination for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Moreover, Gal Gadot isn’t alone as her co-star from DCEU Margot Robbie has also been nominated for her role as Harley Quinn in “Suicide Squad”.
Margot Robbie Also Joins Gal Gadot In Best Actress In Action Movie Award?
Gal Gadot and Margot Robbie will be competing against Scarlett Johannson (as Black Widow in “Captain America: Civil War”) and Tilda Swinton (as The Ancient One in “Doctor Strange”).
Its evident that Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman has already made an impact in Hollywood. Furthermore, the teaser trailers from her spin off has predicted that the standalone movie would overall receive positive reviews from the audience as well critics.
Marvel is also prepping for its first female standalone movie. Unfortunately, it looks like Scarlett Johannson won’t be the one to get the first spin off.
The cinematic studio will soon begin filming for “Captain Marvel” played by Brie Larson. The casting announcement was confirmed earlier at SDCC and the official logo for the MCU title was also revealed.
