The top-seed player to hit the court on a rainy Sunday was Roger Federer. But his 4-round match against No. 13 Gael Monfils was suspended till Monday due to bad light. Federer won the first set 6-3 and conceded the second 6-4.

No 8 Stan Wawrinka though rolled past his pre-quarterfinal tie against N0 12 Gilles Simon in straight sets.

Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga upset 4th seed Tomas Berdych within 4 sets. The home-crowd cheered Tsonga after he won every point.

No 5 Kei Nishikori managed to reach the semifinals for the first time in his career. Nishikori won against Teymuraz Gabashvili and shall face Tsonga in the semifinals.

In the Women’s singles, Ana Ivanovic will once again feature in the quarter-finals. Ivanovic, who won the title in 2008, defeated Teymuraz Gabashvili and will now face No. 19 Elina Svitolina.

The other match between No. 2 Maria Sharapova vs. No. 13 Lucie Safarova was postponed due to rain. The other match which was postponed featured No. 21 Garbine Muguruza vs. No. 28 Flavia Pennetta.
