Foursquare Unveils New Logo
What’s up with Foursquare? If the buzz has reached you that many changes are in the horizon for the popular all, you may be surprised about what is in stored for us in the coming weeks or months.
To begin with the surprising changes, Foursquare has unveiled its new logo. This may be the indication that the app is up for many changes ahead. The new Foursquare logo looks like a map pin that is at the same time a superhero emblem, featuring what else but the letter ‘F,’ for obvious reasons.
This new logo finally replaces its old and somehow outdated check-in checkmark. You may notice that striking difference when you check in Foursquare today.
Tandem with Swarm
As Foursquare ditched its check-in logo, it has also gotten rid of check-ins through its main app. That is another major change. Now, the app can be used only for discovering different places.
But if you are hooked to that feature, there is no need to worry. You would not totally say goodbye to it. But that is only if you download and install the sibling app of Foursquare—Swarm, which was launched last May.
Swarm will be the app for checking in as well as keeping up with your friends. Thus, previous check-ins, photos, and friend contacts using the old Foursquare will be transitioned over to Swarm.
Foursquare and Swarm are meant to work together. Users who have both apps on their devices would be able to still check in using the new Foursquare. It is estimated that as of press time, over 75% of Foursquare users are already using Swarm for iOS and Android devices.
The new version
What’s more? Foursquare is set to launch a new and more personalized version of its self in the coming weeks. In a blog post, Foursquare has announced that the new version would be all about its users. It has asked them to tell the company what they like to have so Foursquare could work on features and places to match everyone’s tastes, anywhere in the world.
The brand new Foursquare would also start offering personal recommendations that are customized to match users’ preferences. That is because it thinks that people view the world in different ways and perspectives. Thus, it has assured that people will have different experiences with the new Foursquare.
