Formula 1 News: Ricciardo Still Expresses Interest In Ferrari, Felipe Massa Has ‘Interesting Opportunities’ In 2017, & More
Daniel Ricciardo still expresses interest in joining Ferrari amidst Red Bull confirming that he is staying with the team. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner may have already said that the Aussie is staying with the team from 2017, and possibly beyond. But that doesn’t mean Ricciardo is not thinking about making a move if the opportunity from Ferrari presents itself.
According to a report from Grand Prix Times, when asked if he’s willing to join Sebastian Vettel in Ferrari, Ricciardo answered, “The only reason I would jump ship [from Red Bull] and go up against him again would be to fight for a world title.”
Felipe Massa says there are “interesting opportunities for him” for the 2017 season. With Massa’s contract with Williams expiring at the end of this season, the Brazilian driver is anything but worried. He explained to ESPN, “I feel ready to stay, I’m ready to do everything I can, I’m ready to enjoy myself. And if I don’t have a good opportunity I’m ready to find a new job in something different!”
Reports have been circulating that Williams is looking to sign Jenson Button for the next season.
Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene says Kimi Raikkonen can still be unbeatable. Clearly, there is no love lost between Arrivabene and his Finn driver. During an interview with Motorsport, the Ferrari boss says that he believes Raikkonen is still an excellent driver.
“Kimi is giving his contribution to the constructors’ championship, and in the first part of the 2016 season he has done well. When the car is there for him, I do not think that he is inferior to anybody,” he explained.
Daniil Kvyat says “life’s good” despite demotion to Toro Rosso. After having lackluster races and following his demotion to Toro Rosso, former Red Bull driver Kvyat seems to be taking things pretty well. He recently took to Twitter saying, “A bit going on lately but hard work continues & I keep on pushing hard! Life’s good.”
Teams reveal tire choices for Silverstone. Ahead of the Silverstone GP in July, teams have revealed their tire choices for the said race weekend. Mercedes has decided to stock up on more soft tires, with seven each sets for Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. The same strategy is being used by Red Bull for Ricciardo and Max Verstappen. Meanwhile, both Vettel and Raikkonen will eight soft tires sets each in Ferrari.
