With ‘The Flash’ season 2 finale promos not giving away much and the second last episode being the darkest one till date, there seems to be a very good chance that The Flash fails to defeat Zoom in the finale.
Even though people have been seeing a pretty optimistic Barry Allen, ever since his trip into the speed force, it is highly doubtful how positive he would manage to stay after witnessing his father being killed in front of his eyes.
“The Flash” season 2 episode 22 digressed from the series’ usual jovial tone and entered into a serious and bitter atmosphere by having Zoom capture Henry Allen, Barry’s father, and murder him, while Barry watched helplessly.
So will it make Barry lose his newly found confidence and slip into depression? Grant Gustin, who plays ‘The Flash’ doesn’t seem to think so.
“He’ll find a way to deal with this”, Gustin told ComicBook. “He lost his mom at a young age, he saw her right in front of him, then went back in time and watched it again… he’ll find a way to deal with this. He’s not going to let it ruin him. It’s going to be hard to come back from this one, but he’ll stay optimistic Barry.”
“The Flash” Season 2 Finale Spoilers
However, things won’t be that smooth-going for Barry, since new images released by TVLine, show Zoom kidnapping Joe. Having already lost his father because of Zoom in the previous episode, will Barry be able to save his foster father in time? More importantly, will he be able to defeat Zoom at all?
It has been a trend with superhero shows like ‘The Flash’ and ‘Arrow’ to never let a villain survive beyond the season they were introduced in, but Zoom seems to be unfazed by anything The Flash has tried so far.
If anything, he seems to be growing stronger and more menacing with each episode. Besides, Zoom had pointed out Barry’s biggest weakness that will always distract the latter from defeating Zoom –
“…because you always have to be the hero. While you are playing the good little boy, I’ll be busy winning,” observed Zoom in the previous episode.
So does that mean that Zoom is undefeatable? After all, The Flash did need the help of Arrow and Firestorm to bring down The Reverse Flash in Season 1. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
