Two styles of women scarves by Ivanka Trump have been recalled due to their materials. It has been discovered that they are highly flammable and potentially dangerous.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the styles of Beach Wave in blue, coral and yellow colors and Brushstroke Oblong in blue, red, neutral and green are highly flammable. They have been recalled as a result.
Accounting for about 20,000 pieces, the affected styles by the recall are both 76 inches long and 24 inches wide. All scarves have the “IVANKA TRUMP” black label embroidered in silver sewn on the edge, and are made of 100 percent rayon with a machine-rolled hem.
The scarves are sold at Century 21, Lord & Taylor, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Stein Mart retail stores throughout the country, and online at amazon.com and loehmanns.com from October 2014 until January 2016. They cost between $12 and $68.
However, it has been discovered that the scarves of the 34-year-old former model and entrepreneur, which were manufactured in China, “do not meet the federal flammability standards for clothing textiles, posing a burn risk.”
While there have been no reported incidents or injuries, the CPSC pointed out that as a precaution, “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled scarves and return them to the place where purchased for a full refund.” The organization also said that “Consumers who purchased the scarves online will be contacted directly by online retailers with return instructions.”
Affected customers are called contact the GBG Accessories Group via toll-free number 888-771-9047 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, from Monday through Friday. They may also send an email to IvankaTrumpRecall@globalbrandsgroup.com for more information.
In the meantime, Ivanka Trump’s spokesperson already released a statement via Gizmodo, claiming the company is already looking into the issue.
“We’re disappointed to learn of the need for Global Brands Group, our license partner, to recall two styles of Ivanka Trump scarves, but we are relieved that immediate action is being taken,” the statement reads. “We’re committed to providing our audience of millennial working women with accessibly priced, quality products that suit their needs and look great.”
Ivanka Trump’s camp assured its customers that they will see to it that the issue is fixed immediately. It remains to be seen if this incident can affect Ivanka’s father Donald Trump’s campaigning to become the next U.S. President.
