“Fifty Shades” New Book To Hit Shelves In June This Year
On Monday, author of Fifty Shades trilogy, E.L. James, announced on Instagram that another book in the franchise is underway.
Grey, the newest installment in what has attained the mark of a bestselling series, will tell the story from Christian’s perspective. The original trilogy, on the contrary, was narrated from Anastasia’s standpoint.
The book has a scheduled release date of June 18 of this year.

In a news release, James said, “Christian is a complex character. And readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past. Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story. It’s been a great pleasure to return to my happy place — writing, being with Christian and Ana in their universe, and working with the fantastic team at Vintage.”
Grey will hit stores as a paperback and will also be available as an eBook. It will be published by Vintage Books, an imprint of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, a division of Penguin Random House.
Vintage Books publisher and James’ editor Anne Messitte said, “Fifty Shades of Grey is a love story that has enthralled readers in a way that few books have, and when Erika mentioned to me that she wanted to explore Christian’s viewpoint and re-open the story, I was incredibly excited for her and for her readers. This book has all the compelling attributes of its predecessors, and I can’t wait for Fifty Shades fans to experience the work again from a perspective they have long desired,” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The worldwide acclaim of the trilogy – “Fifty Shades of Grey,” “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed” – enticed Hollywood to adapt the books into movies. The first movie, released in February this year and which stars Jamie Dornan as Christian and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia, was one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2015.
The movie earned $500 million worldwide, according to USA Today, while the adaptations of the second and third installments are slated to be released on February 10, 2017 and February 9, 2018, respectively.
The books, on the other hand, have sold more than 125 million copies across the globe. Moreover, the original occupied the topmost spot in the USA Today’s Best-Selling Books list for 20 weeks.
