A steamy lingerie campaign anchored on the upcoming film “Fifty Shades Darker” is expected to hit the fashion world by storm.
As its steamy campaign suggests, the Coco de Mer collection promises to unlock the “hidden Goddess” among women, as what happened to the movie’s protagonist Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).
In particular, the erotic lingerie brand seeks inspiration from the sexual liberation of Ana and her newly-acquired confidence.
“Fifty Shades Darker lingerie really captures Ana’s sexual awakening. It is luxurious, deeply provocative and elegantly erotic,” said EL James, author of the novel “Fifty Shades Darker,” regarding the saucy lingerie collection.
The new lingerie line therefore represents Ana’s revolution, and how she has taken a more dominant role in her relationship with Dorian Gray (Jamie Dornan), according to Daily Mail.
James claimed that he has an affinity with the Coco de Mer, which began when he started writing the “50 Shades” series of books.
“I took inspiration from Coco de Mer when I was writing the books and visited the boutique in Covent Garden as part of my research,” he said.
Each piece of the lingerie collection thus gives women a sense of being part of Ana and Dorian’s sexual world in “Fifty Shades Darker.”
For instance the Red Room, which is priced between £15-£60, is a bordeaux satin with lace and silver componentry.
Escala, on the other hand, is an all over lace and contrasting satin piece inspired by Christian’s modern penthouse, while Masquerade is a black satin piece with custom embroidery in shades of grey, which is inspired by the basque in the book.
In the meantime, a spokesperson of Coco de Mer said, “Fifty Shades Darker documents Anastasia’s growth in self-worth which has a knock-on effect on her relationship with Christian,” according to The Sun.
“She is now more in control – it’s as if the roles have been reversed,” the spokesperson added.
The lingerie collection – ranging from playful teddies, to halter-neck bras to plunging corsets – is not only expected to create a stir in the bedroom, but also make “Fifty Shades Darker” another blockbuster hit.
