“Fifty Shades Darker” lead cast Jamie Dornan is sparking rumors that he is embarrassed and is regretting being associated with his role as Christian Grey.
The Irish actor, who rose to fame for his role as sex addict Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movies, is now reportedly shedding off his character to give way to other acting opportunities.
In fact, Jamie Dornan will play as Will Scarlett in the movie “Robin Hood: Origins” alongside Egerton as Robin Hood, Jamie Foxx as Little John, and Eve Hewson as Maid Marian, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The Lionsgate production casts the “Fifty Shades Darker” star as one of the member of the band of Merry Men. He will be Marian’s husband “who will be none too happy when he learns that she loves the outlaw.”
A report from Celebrity Dirty Laundry noted that “Fifty Shades of Grey” cast Jamie Dornan has been vocal from the start that he only accepted the Christian Grey role so he can grab more opportunities in the Hollywood.
“Jamie Dornan has made it pretty clear that he’s desperate to shed his ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ image, despite the fact that the franchise has helped make him a household name and international star,” the CDL report said, noting that Jamie Dornan has long been embarrassed about his role.

However, the report warns Jamie Dornan that if he continues to discredit what the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movies have done to his career, he might just lose the support of his “Fifty Shades” fans.
“Sure, Jamie could have taken other routes to help build his career, but he took the easy one by picking up a role that no one else in Hollywood wanted,” the report said. “Jamie was just as desperate to play Christian Grey as he is now desperate to forget about it.”
Aside from “Fifty Shades Darker,” set to hit the big screens on Valentine’s Day next year, Jamie Dornan also starred in “Anthropoid” and will appear on Netflix’s “Jadotville.”
