Female James Bond? After less than a year since the last Bond film, fans of the British superspy are already excited to know what’s next.

With Daniel Craig not yet confirming whether he will return as Agent 007, some have already expressed interest in having the license to kill, including actresses Gillian Anderson, Priyanka Chopra, and Elizabeth Banks.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gillian Anderson tweeted a fan-made poster of calling her to be the British Superspy. The image which shows her superimposed onto a Skyfall one-sheet was retweeted more than 13,000 times which there are some people who can get on board the idea of Jane Bond.

Aside from Gillian Anderson, other actresses have expressed their interest in playing the role of 007. Priyanka Chopra has been told that she would make a great Bond girl, but all she wants is to be Bond. Elizabeth Banks also told EW that she would like the role but insists that it has to be James Bond, not Jane or Jamie.

Aside from these actresses, actors Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston have been speculated to be the next James Bond. Although this is mere speculation, the actors have expressed their interest in playing the role.

Many fans of the MI6 agent are still not on board with the iconic Caucasian English man being swapped for a female James Bond as it has been the image of the character for decades. Despite many expressing their opinion that the film needs to catch up with the current times, apparently some things are better left the way they are.

Ever since its inception in 1953, Ian Fleming’s iconic spy franchise has been highly popular. The image of the gentleman spy and dismantling covert conspiracies has continued to be relevant despite the constantly shifting trends.

While it is highly unlikely that a female James Bond will ever hit the big screen, it is believed by some that the franchise needs to adapt with the changing times.
