Last Sunday’s second episode of “Fear The Walking Dead” Season 2 focused on Travis’ group journey as they try to hide from the mysterious ship chasing them since the last episode. In this episode, viewers were introduced to new characters George, Melissa, Seth, Harry, and Willa.

Travis’ (Cliff Curtis) group tried to stay away from the ship chasing them so they decided to look for a cove and hide the boat. They soon found an island where they met George and his family. They invited the group to stay at their house. On the otherhand, Strand, Daniel, and Ofelia opted to stay at the boat.

As Travis and the others stayed at the house for the night, he was told by George that the rangers reported that the plague already spread in the continental divide. Maddie (Kim Dickens) believed that his wife, Melissa was being held against her will due to her odd questions while they chatted. Nick and Alicia bonded with the kids, little Harry and Willa, where they found his action figure toys named after his loved ones and had red dots on their forehead.

Variety stated that it was common for a show with horror elements to have a kid hinted the first clue that something was not right. It happened when Nick visited Harry’s room and showed the action figures. What gave the clue that the little boy was odd was his answer to Nick’s question about his toys, “I know, because I have Power Pills, It’s like a vitamin. If I take it my family stays together.”

The incident where Nick found a stash of pills confirmed the belief that George wanted his whole family to take the pills as a way to escape the plague. When Maddie told Melissa thay they could go with them when they leave, she insisted that they take Harry and Willa instead. However, they were already late when they found Willa dead because of the pills. But she came back as a zombie and bit Melissa in the neck while cradling her lifeless body.

Unlike its predecessor “The Walking Dead” where new faces sometimes last for a few episodes, this episode showed otherwise. Melissa already became a zombie and shot by her son, Seth in one episode. It may also be well concluded that the family’s patriarch took his own life with the pill.
