Fallout 4 Gamers Earn $10 for Downloading Free Copies of the Xbox One Game
It looks like Microsoft has its hands full at E3! Earlier this week on Thursday, Bethesda’s Fallout 4 along with the season pack 2 and expansion was available for free on Xbox Store. It’s pretty obvious that it was a system glitch. However, that didn’t stop users from downloading the popular Xbox One game.Advertisement
Fallout 4 free copies cannot be accessed
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. According to Kotaku, Microsoft revoked the license for the free copies. But it looks like the tech giant is eager to avoid any sort of chaos in the Xbox One community. Every user who downloaded the free copy will receive $10 for the error.
Microsoft sent out an alert message announcing the bad news, quickly coming up with a strategy.
“Our pricing error on Fallout 4 has been fixed and your free download will no longer work,” Microsoft said in a statement. “For the inconvenience we will deposit $10 by the end of June in your Microsoft Account. This expires one year from the time it was deposited.”
It looks like everyone gets to go home a winner, especially Fallout 4 fans. As pointed out by Polygon, the lucky few who will be receiving the $10 credit will be able to grab Fallout 4 Automatron or Wasteland Workshop DLC for the money.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft messed up this month. Xbox Store accidentally released complete description of Destiny: Rise of Iron DLC and its release date. Although they were quick to take it down, the damage had already been done. Are we going to see more exciting leaks from Microsoft before E3?
